Bede's World & St Paul's Church and Monastery Jarrow

Bede's World & St Paul's Church and Monastery, Jarrow.

St Bede(672/673-735), also known as the venerable Bede was a monk at St Paul's in Jarrow and it's companion monastery at Monkwearmouth, which were in the Kingdom of Northumbria.
He was known as the father of English history and was a gifted linguistic and translator.
His final resting place is Durham Cathedral.
Bede's world, which includes a replica Anglo-Saxon farm & buildings and nearby St Paul's are attractions which are open to the public.
St Paul's chancel is the original Saxon church dating from AD681 although the nave and north aisle were added in the Victorian era.
