HMS Blyth (M111) at the Newcastle Quayside.

HMS Blyth (M111) is one of seven ships of the Sandown class serving in the Royal Navy . She is a Minehunter and is equipped with sophisticated mine hunting equipment and Royal Navy divers can operate from the ship. The ship also deals with explosive devices from previous wars and recently had to blow up an unexploded torpedo a from WW1 German submarine off the coast of Sunderland. There are hundreds of explosives left over from previous wars around the British coastline which have to be dealt with.
The ship can accommodate up to 40 crew and is armed with automatic guns and machine guns.
All the ships of this class are named after British coastal towns.
