Queen Elizabeth the 2nd Metro Bridge


Queen Elizabeth the 2nd Metro Bridge.

This bridge was specifically built to carry the Metro light rail system which serves Tyne and Wear. It was designed by WA Fairhurst and Partners and constructed by Cementation Construction Co & Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Company.
The bridge was opened by Queen Elizabeth 11 on the 6th of November 1978.
The bridge is 1,157 (352.7m) ft in length and 82ft (25m) above the river Tyne.
