Doddington Ancient Rock Art, Northumberland.
There are mysterious rock markings across Northumberland.
The markings carved into rocky outcrops and boulders range from circular designs known as cups to more complex and interweaving designs of cups, rings and grooves.
This is evidence of a thriving civilised society in this part of the world dating back thousands of years to the Iron Age and earlier.
In addition there are some photos of the nearby Roughting Linn - Linn means waterfall, and the surrounding area.
A further connection to Northumberland's far ancient past is the Duddo standing stone circle.
