HMS St Albans


HMS St Albans on the Tyne.

The Royal Navy Type 23 Frigate visited the river Tyne in June 2019.
She is a multi role vessel and there are 13 ships of this particular class in the British fleet.

HMS Cattistock on the Tyne.


HMS Cattistock on the Tyne.

These photos were taken on the 27th of June 2019.
HMS Cattistock is mine countermeasure vessel of the  Royal Navy. 
She is the third vessel of her class and was commissioned in 1982.
She is a  sister  ship of HMS Ledbury which had previously visited  the  Newcastle Quayside.

Royal Fleet Auxiliary Ship Wave Knight.

The Royal Fleet Auxiliary ships provide support for Royal Navy ships around the world.
RFA Wave Knight is a fast fleet tanker, she was launched in 2000 and weighs 31500 tonnes.
Wave Knight provides fuel, fresh water, ammunition as well as other supplies to a variety of vessels.
These photos were taken on 30/03/2019 during a visit to the Northumbrian Quay, North Shields.

HMS Defender on the Tyne


HMS Defender on the Tyne. 

HMS  Defender is one of a class of six Royal Navy Type 45 Destroyers.
They are the most modern & capable air defence ships in the world.
She is a sister ship of HMS Duncan pictures of which can be seen here.

Royal Quays Marina North Shields (2)


Royal Quays Marina, North Shields. 

The Royal Quays Marina was developed in the 1980's. Initially the site was the Albert Edward Dock on the Tyne. These photos were all taken in early November 2018 and reflect the variety of vessels which now use the marina.
Included in the photos are the UK Border Force Cutter Alert at the boatyard, the Royal Navy Patrol Ship HMS Archer, the Fisheries Patrol boat St Aidan, the Newcastle University Research Vessel the Princess Royal, and a rescue training vessel from South Shields Marine School.

HMS (F238) Northumberland leaving the Tyne.

These are photos of Royal Navy Type 23 frigate HMS Northumberland leaving the Tyne on 09/07/2018.
HMS Northumberland recently underwent a major refit where she was fitted with the new state of the art Seaceptor missile system, which can be used for air defence and anti-surface operations.
Also included in the pictures are police launches and the Port of Tyne vessels Lynceus and Collingwood which were escorting Northumberland.

HMS Severn, Newcastle Quayside.

HMS Severn (P282) is a Royal Navy offshore patrol vessel, these photographs were taken on the 9th of January 2017 during a visit to the Newcastle Quayside.
